For Chad Kagy, riding BMX means more than winning Gold
at the X Games. BMX is a lifestyle for Chad. His true passion for the
sport has only served to make him one of BMX’s most exciting riders
to watch. Known for going fast, big gaps, long manuals, and flipwhips,
this freestyle BMX rider always stands out from the pack. He’s a
rider who takes risks to insure that he is constantly elevating his riding
to the next level. During the Gravity Games 2002 street competition, Kagy
pulled a double backflip during his run, becoming the second person to
ever do so during a contest run.
One of the most dedicated riders around, Chad moved across the country
from his hometown of Gilroy, CA to State College, PA to be near Camp Woodward,
the nations top BMX camp. His close proximity gives Kagy ample opportunity
to improve his riding and fine-tune his skills. Chad not only rides at
Camp Woodward, but also contributes through his scholarship fund, which
provides paid camp tuition for several children a year. Currently Chad
is working on progressing vert by giving young riders the opportunity
to push their skills to the next level with a Vert Gathering of old school
& new school at Woodward Camp.
Chad has been working with Woodward camp on the new
Mega Ramp training facility. It incorporates a stunt man air bag with
resin plastic laid over the top of it for the riders to land on and still
roll away.
